The control of the spatially periodic stribe patterns made by viscous fingering phenomena was tried. Moreover, the relationship between the diffusion of laser beam that went through the fabricated pattern surface and the shape of the stripe pattern was investigated. The larger light diffusion property was observed when the characteristic length was relatively small and the gap was relatively large.

We proposed an UV assisted frontal polymerization technique for obtaining the negative refractive-index distribution type polymer optical fiber preform rod. Compared with the multi-step interfacial-gel polymerization technique reported so far, we were able to be easily obtained with an almost ideal refractive index distribution under the proper fabrication conditions.

We proposed the negative refractive-index distribution type polymer optical fiber (N-GI-POF). And as a result of calculating the bandwidth of this fiber using a numerical simulation, the bandwidth was almost the same as the normal refractive-index distribution type polymer optical fiber.　Moreover, when N-GI-POF was actually produced and the transmission band was measured, it became clear that they are about 700 MHz/100m.

We synthesized the blue light-emitting materials of high quantum yield using various benzyl group derivatives as monomer that was known as inexpensive reagent. Moreover, blue luminescence was confirmed from the organic electrogenerated chemiluminescence element produced using the obtained material. The realization of inexpensive lighting and a display element are expected by ECL element of easy structure using the obtained material.

We proposed the frontal polymerizing technique which used heat and ultraviolet rays. It succeeded in producing the refractive-index distribution type polymer waveguide which has the controlled refractive-index distribution by using the frontal polymerization technique which irradiates with ultraviolet rays.
Moreover, two waveguide were able to be simultaneously produced by irradiating with two thin ultraviolet rays.

In this synthesis, anthracene structures were formed with dehydrogenating of 9,10-dihydroanthracene in same process. Those anthracene structures gave the photoluminescence property.
In this synthesis, an addition of appropriate amount of cross-linking reagent gave higher molecular weight products.

We proposed the optical amplifier for polymer optical fiber by using an evanescent wave phenomena.　The amplification phenomena by using evanescent wave and laser dye solution was confirmed. This result exhibit the possibility to realize the continious wave signal amplification. Furthermore, the defocus type waveguide could be fabricated by interfacial-gel polymerization technique. If the obtained defocus type waveguide was assumed, it was confirmed that the reflect frequency was increased by ray trace simulation.

The organic electrogenerated chemiluminescence（ECL）devices are having simple structure where the organic dye solution was inserted with the electrode of two sheets. Therefore, these devices can be expected as a new flat panel display.
In this study, we proposed an organic ECL devices using the conductive polymer, poly(2,5-dioctylphenylene-1,4-ethynylene)(PPE) and poly(3-octylthiophene)(P3OT), for luminescence materials. The light-emitting time of P3OT was about 6000s and PPE was about 180s.

Poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA) has the advantage of high transparency and good workability. But it has low thermal stability. Then, to improve the thermal stability of PMMA, we added the small particles of porus-cross-linked PMMA into the PMMA. In this way, PMMA chain is found in the interior ofthree-dimensional polymer network with high thermal stability and the mobility of PMMA chain is decreased.
As a result, we improved the thermal stability of PMMA with high transparency and good workability.
