In this paper, we introduce how multistakeholder governance for the Internet initiated and evolved by showing key events, example disputes, and the current organization of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). The Internet has been growing for the last fifty years. Both technological and deployment efforts drove the growth of the Internet. Since internet technology initially does not impose any border between computers communicating, it effectively provides connectivity globally. Globally available borderless networks create conflicts. For example, each of the nations controls the trademark registration, which is not unique if we look beyond jurisdictional borders. Once these registered names started using on the global Internet, there may be possibilities of conflicts of use of the name. To resolve such a dispute, we need a mechanism. The Internet’s multistakeholder governance born and start evolving since the so-called dot-com bubble time; finally, the movement established ICANN as a place to discuss issues among multiple stakeholders. Now ICANN is grown enough and showing how the Internet Multistakeholder model is useful for other fields.

Mitigating bitcoin node storage size by DHT

© 2018 ACM. A type of Bitcoin node called “Full Node” has to hold the entire of historical transaction data called “Blockchain” to verify that new transactions are correct or not. To operate nodes as Full Nodes, the required storage size will be too large for resource-constrained devices. In this paper, to mitigate storage size, we propose a storage load balancing scheme by distributed storage based on Distributed Hash Table (DHT). By our scheme, nodes in a DHT cluster can behave like Full Nodes without holding the entire of the blockchain.

Abstract:
Although cameras are commonly used to achieve customer's attributes in the field of advertising, improving the precision of these consumer features just by imagery has been a great challenge. This paper proposes a new targeted advertising method experimentally accommodated to digital signage systems by using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) beacons. The paper provides a design of this new advertising method implemented on an iPhone and Raspberry Pi 3, along with the experimental evaluations of the acquired attributes and psychological resistance of the targeted advertising method.

Blockchain as an Audit-Able Communication Channel

Applications requiring strict access control, such as medical record query, often require auditing of the query. The current typical design relies on server side logging. However, logging on server-side do not provide strict means of auditing, since the server can be tampered with attackers, and also anybody who has permission to write can modify the log. We propose a scheme using blockchain technology, as a request-response channel for a client-server system, to record both client request and server reply in an audi-table manner. We have implemented a proof-of-concept system on top of a publicly available blockchain testbed. By using a blockchain as a client-server request-response channel, the request-response sequence can be verified by anybody who has access to the blockchain, providing a way to implement audit log for strictly controlled resources.
