• 子どもの頃から社会・環境問題に関心があったが、11年間の会社員生活の中で人々の生活を良くするためには市民社会が重要であることを痛感しハーバード大学ケネディスクールに留学し行政学修士のプログラムを修了。卒業後ニューヨークにあるコミュニティ・オーガナイジング（CO）を実践する地域組織にて市民参加のさまざまな形を現場で学んだ後、2013年9月に帰国。特定非営利活動法人コミュニティ・オーガナイジング・ジャパン（COJ）を2014年1月に仲間達と立ち上げ、ワークショップやコーチングを通じて、COの実践を広める活動を全国で行っている。主な著書に『コミュニティ・オーガナイジング』。ピッツバーグ大学社会学部博士課程修了。

  Protest hesitancy remains a significant barrier to participation in social movements. This article examines how gender shapes protest hesitancy and how it can be strategically leveraged to overcome it by analyzing the Flower Demo movement against sexual violence in Japan. Interviews with 72 participants reveal how the movement's feminization of tactics, strategies, and leadership helped overcome protest hesitancy. First, Flower Demo's feminized protest actions countered stereotypes of protests as masculine and combative. Second, Flower Demo decoupled protests from politics by emphasizing inclusive goals and emotional strategies, in which simply showing up signified success. This addressed the norm that one should remain apolitical and avoid criticism and pressure, particularly for women. Third, Flower Demo's participatory leadership structure challenged the perception that activists exercise autocratic leadership. This research illustrates how normative masculine views of social movements suppress broader participation and how gender can be used as a resource to overcome protest hesitancy.
