<p>Biomass-derived sugars have attracted increasing attention in recent years as an alternative carbon source. Although significant advances have been reported in the development of catalysts for the conversion of carbohydrates into key chemicals, only a limited range of products can be obtained. We herein describe the highly-selective cascade syntheses of a range of useful compounds using biomass-derived sugars and aldehydes. We especially focus on the upgrade of 1,3-dihydroxyacetone (DHA) generated from glucose to yield useful compounds via C-C bond formation. The establishment of this novel synthetic methodology to generate valuable chemical products from saccharides renders carbohydrates a potential alternative carbon resource to fossil fuels.</p>

シトクロムP450BM-3による直鎖オクタン酸化反応では、3-および4-オクタノールが選択的に生成する。この酵素の活性点近傍に配向するアラニン側鎖（Ala328）をロイシンに置換すると、選択率78%で2-オクタノールが得られた。この変異酵素に対して、さらに他のアラニン側鎖（Ala82）をトリプトファン側鎖に置換すると、1-オクタノールへの選択性が増大した。

タルクのSi原子をGe原子に替えたGe-タルクを触媒として、エタノールから1,3-ブタジエンへの一段転化反応を行なった。Ge-タルクは、タルクに比べて僅かに高い1,3-ブタジエンの選択率 23.5%と生成速度1.2&times;10^-3 mol g^-1 h^-1を示した。 さらに、Ge-タルクのGe含有量が減るにつれて、1,3-ブタジエンの選択率と生成速度は向上した。また、X線光電子分光法によって、これらのGe-タルクの表面電子密度を明らかにした。

生成物選択性の発現に触媒反応場の空洞容積が及ぼす影響を明らかにすることを本研究の目的とした。酵素分子内の空洞に直鎖アルカンが結合し、アルコールへの酸化反応が進行するアルカン酸化酵素では、生成する2-アルコールの立体異性体への選択性が基質結合部位の空洞容積に依存した。一方、細孔の空洞内に酸点が位置するゼオライト触媒においても、細孔の空洞容積がアルケン転化反応における生成物選択性に影響を及ぼした。

タルクを触媒とすると1.3&minus;ブタジエン（ブタジエン）の生成速度は、400℃、エタノール1気圧の反応条件下で7.8&times;10^-4 mol g^-1 h^-1であった。一方、 Zn (ZnOとして1.4 wt%) を含むタルクでは、ブタジエン生成速度は1.9&times;10^-2 mol g¹ h^-1 へと大きく増大した。触媒寿命は3倍以上に長くなり、7時間に達した。

　概要を見る

温度可変¹H MAS NMRを用いて、ゼオライトに存在する水酸基のケミカルシフトに及ぼす温度の影響を調べた。水酸基に起因するプロトンの酸強度が高いほど、そのプロトンのケミカルシフトは，温度の影響を強く受けた。¹H MAS NMRによってシラノールとネストシラノールとを区別することができる。後者のケミカルシフトは室温で2.2 ppmであり，前者は1.9ppmであった。またエタノール及び１&minus;ヘキセンの転化反応における活性には、大きな違いが観測された。

ITQ-21およびUSYゼオライトを用いて<i>n</i>-ヘプタンの異性化反応を200℃で行なった。異性化活性はUSYと大きな違いは観測されなかった。しかし、ITQ-21はUSYゼオライトに比べ炭素析出量が少なく、活性低下が少ないことが特徴である。ITQ-21骨格中のAl量が触媒特性に及ぼす影響を調べた。その結果、Alの量が増えるほど、骨格異性化の選択性が高くなった。

均一系ロジウム錯体であるシクロオクダジエンロジウムヒドロキソダイマー[Rh(cod)OH]<SUB>2</SUB>から、新たな水素源を加えなくても、ロジウムヒドリド（Rh-H）種が生成することを見出した。重水素化オレフィンを用いる実験等から、配位子であるシクロオクタジエンが酸化されることでRh-Hが生成していることを見出した。このRh-H種はオレフィンのシス-トランスおよび二重結合移動異性化反応に触媒活性を示した。

オレフィン転化反応においてプロピレンの選択率はゼオライトの細孔入口径だけでなく、細孔の空洞の大きさに依存する。エチレンおよび1−ブテン転化反応では、ゼオライト細孔の空洞の大きさがオクチルカルベニウムイオンの大きさとほぼ等しいとき、プロピレンが高い選択率で生成する。この現象は細孔入口の構造が8員環、10員環、12員環のいずれのゼオライトを用いても観測される。ペンテン（2−ペンテン、2−メチル−2−ブテン）、およびヘキセン（1−ヘキセン）では単分子の分解反応が進行し、それぞれのカルベニウムイオンの大きさとゼオライト細孔の空洞の大きさとがほぼ等しいときにプロピレンは高い選択率で生成する。

エチレン転化反応によるプロピレン機構を明らかにするために、SAPO-34の細孔空洞内と気相に脱離した生成物を調べた。エチレン転化率が１％程度の反応条件下において細孔空洞内には炭素数１０までのオレフィンとパラフィンが生成していた。このとき気相には炭素数が４以下の炭化水素、特にプロピレンの生成が確認された。一方、１-ブテンを原料として各種ゼオライトを触媒として反応をおこなうと、プロピレンの生成挙動はエチレンを原料とする場合と同じであった。以上の実験結果をもとに、プロピレンがオクテンを経由して生成していると推論した。また、反応に関与するオクチルカルベニウムイオンについても推定した。
