We investigated characteristics of water sloshing in a rotating, laterally oscillating, cylindrical container both theoretically and experimentally. In our experiment, the time-dependent dynamic pressure of the water on the wall rather than the free-surface displacement of the water was measured, and the experimental parameters are the lateral forcing frequency, the rotation frequency of the cylindrical container, and the water depth. We also conducted a theoretical analysis to understand the experimental results. The swirling of water in the container had some frequency components; the frequency responses of each frequency component are examined herein.

This study reports magnetic fluid flow in a square duct under DC, AC, and DC+AC magnetic fields. We measured pressure drop with applying different magnetic fields. Under magnetic fields, flow resistance increased by forming a cluster so that pressure drop and friction factor also increased. From FFT analysis of the pressure drop, we obtained different power spectrum for AC and DC+AC magnetic fields.

This paper reports the experimental studies on a magneto-rheological (MR) fluid under AC magnetic fields. Magnetic clusters in the MR fluid are formed along the magnetic fields. The ultrasonic propagation velocity changes owing to the presence of clustering structures in the MR fluid. We investigated clustering structures by measuring this change in the ultrasonic propagation velocity. The results indicate that magnetic clusters in the MR fluid depend on the elapsed time, intensity, frequency, and angle of the AC magnetic fields.

We have investigated the free-surface fluctuations of liquid in a rotating, laterally oscillating, cylindrical vessel. We measured the time-dependent fluid-dynamic pressure instead of the free surface luctuations. From an FFT analysis of the dynamic pressure, we obtained two significant frequencies. They are associated, respectively, with waves that rotate in the same direction, and in the opposite direction, relative to the rotation of the vessel. We also examined these results using linearized wave theory.

水が満たされた回転する円筒容器を水平加振させ，内部の圧力変動を実験的に調べた。波頭が回転するスワーリング発生時の圧力変動には，加振周波数と回転周波数の整数倍の和および差の周波数成分が存在することを見出した。

MR流体を用いた緩衝器の印加磁場に基づく抵抗力を，Bingham流体モデルを用いて理論解析を行った。また，その解析結果を検証するために実験を行った。実験結果は定性的には理論解析結果と一致したが，実験系が理論解析モデルを充分に反映していなかったので，定量的な比較はできなかった。

磁性流体同調液柱管ダンパーはU字管内の磁性流体液柱を付加振動系とする制振装置で、磁場印加によって液柱固有振動数の制御が可能である。本研究では異なる三つの形状のU字管容器で加振実験を行い、それぞれの比較検討を行った。2014年12月の磁性流体連合講演会で発表された論文が，査読されて本論文集に掲載された。
