Heat-resistant improvement of thermal plasticity PMMA

Poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA) has the advantage of high transparency and good workability. But it has low thermal stability. Then, to improve the thermal stability of PMMA, we added the small particles of porus-cross-linked PMMA into the PMMA. In this way, PMMA chain is found in the interior ofthree-dimensional polymer network with high thermal stability and the mobility of PMMA chain is decreased.
As a result, we improved the thermal stability of PMMA with high transparency and good workability.

Fabrication of Organic ECL Device with Polymer Materials

The organic electrogenerated chemiluminescence（ECL）devices are having simple structure where the organic dye solution was inserted with the electrode of two sheets. Therefore, these devices can be expected as a new flat panel display.
In this study, we proposed an organic ECL devices using the conductive polymer, poly(2,5-dioctylphenylene-1,4-ethynylene)(PPE) and poly(3-octylthiophene)(P3OT), for luminescence materials. We evaluated the luminescence properties of these devices.

We proposed the Fresnel lens type refractive index distribution plastic optical fiber and we permitted the calculation of discontinuous refractive index distribution fiber's bandwidth by using ray tracing method which obtains optical path length. Moreover, we successfully obtained the Fresnel lens type refractive index distribution preform rod by interface-gel polymerization technique.

One-pot Synthesis of Polybenzyl Main Chain Luminescent Material Including Anthracene Structure

We synthesized the blue light-emitting materials of high quantum yield using benzyl chloride as monomer that was known as inexpensive reagent. In this synthesis, anthracene structures were formed with dehydrogenating of 9,10-dihydroanthracene in same process. Those anthracene structures gave the photoluminescence property.
In this synthesis, an addition of appropriate amount of cross-linking reagent gave higher molecular weight products.

We proposed the optical amplifier for polymer optical fiber by using an evanescent wave phenomena.　The amplification phenomena by using evanescent wave and laser dye solution was confirmed. This result exhibit the possibility to realize the continious wave signal amplification. If the defocus type waveguide was assumed, it was confirmed that the reflect frequency was increased by ray trace simulation. Furthermore, the defocus type waveguide could be fabricated by interfacial-gel polymerization technique.

In this study, the highly accurate, nondestructive refractive index measurement technique for the refractive index distribution type optical waveguide was proposed, and it was proved. Moreover, it succeeded to decide the two-dimensional refractive-index distribution in the optical waveguide by measuring the refractive indexes from a different directions.

In this study, the refractive-index distribution was able to be formed to the porous matrix that consisted of two kinds of inorganic materials by treated with acid. After the matrix was soaked in the organic monomer, and the matrix with monomer was polymerized. The obtained optical waveguide had a high thermal stability.

Generally, the amplified medium is made to exist in the core region in the waveguide to amplify the light signal. In this study, it succeeded in the experimental confirmation of being able the amplification of the signal light by maintaining the amplified medium in a clad area.
